JAWAHARLAL NEHRU NATIONAL SCIENCE EXHIBITION

36th Jawaharlal Nehru KVS National Level Science Exhibition 2008-09 was hosted by Lucknow Region 2 students of Mumbai Region Andeep Singh Chachal and Siddhartha bagged second position in the Quiz Competition of National Science Exhibition.

KVS Social Science Exhibition - Cum - National Integration Camp 2008

The exhibition cum national integration Camp 2008-09 was hosted by KV-No.1 Colaba, Mumbai from 6th September, 2008. The inaugural function was a grand success with the Joint Commissioner(Acad) Dr. UN Singh as the Chief Guest and Shri Anant Pai founder Editor of Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle as the Guest of Honour. The Times of India (NIE) called it a ‘Fiesta with a half page write – up and pictures.

Mumbai Region bagged first position in the National Social Science Exhibition 2008-09

The exhibition put up by 18 regions of India and 720 students coming from every nook and corner of India was inaugurated by Dr. UN Singh. There were six judges to evaluate and adjudge the models and exhibits – 3 for states and 3 for country. The events scheduled for day 1 were the Group Dance Competition which was held at Mulla Auditorium in the post lunch session. Simultaneously the English Debate was conducted in KV No.1 Library. The topic for the debate was “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind”.

Day 2 – The day was heavily scheduled with many activities going on simultaneously at different venues.

Smt. Manju Singh, the Director of Children’s Films and an actress of yesteryears was the Guest of Honour. She has identified two students whom she will cast in her future projects. The students are Wasim Khan and Sudhanshu from KV-Koliwada.

The final round of the Quiz was scheduled for 8th September at Mulla Auditorium. A professional Quizmaster Sh.N. Gautam conducted the Quiz in a lively manner involving the audience too.

The Valedictory Function was held at Mulla Auditorium with the Hon’ble
Commissioner of KVS Shri Ranglal Jamuda, IAS as the Chief Guest and the Chairmen of KV-No.1, No.2 & No.3 Colaba as the Guests of Honour for the function. All the prize winners gave a repeat performance which held the audience spell bound. In his address the Chairman of KV-No.1 Colaba, CMDE Chandra Sekhar Azad praised the activities of KV-No.1. He mentioned the laurels brought by the students in all spheres – be academics, sports at national and international levels too.

The Hon’ble Commissioner too praised the children about their brilliant performances and also gave them advice about their future career goals.

The last day was scheduled for sight – seeing and the children enjoyed the visit to INS Vikrant besides other places of interest. E.g. the Gateway of India, the museum, etc. The festival came to an end with lots of learning, understanding and living together. Learning to be tolerant of the views of others and respecting them.
